Rio Roadside Assistance is a mobile roadside service company working across Somerville, Cambridge, and Medford. We started with a simple observation: a huge share of the calls that end with a tow truck never needed one. A battery, a puncture, an empty tank, a set of keys on the driver’s seat. Those are all problems that can be solved in a parking space, and solving them there saves you a tow, a shop visit, and most of your afternoon.
So that is the whole business. Two trucks, stocked for the work, driven by people who know vehicles.
Our Experience
More than twenty years of hands-on automotive experience sits behind every call we take. That matters more than it might sound. Roadside work is diagnosis under pressure, usually on the shoulder of a road, often in weather nobody would choose. Knowing the difference between a battery that will hold a charge and one that will strand you again in six blocks is not something you pick up in a weekend.
It also means we know our limits. We are a roadside company, not a repair shop, and there are jobs that belong in a bay with a lift. When yours is one of them, we will tell you plainly rather than take the call anyway.
What You Can Expect
- A Straight Diagnosis: We tell you what is actually wrong, including when the honest answer is that this needs a shop.
- A Price Before We Start: You approve the work and the cost before any tools come out of the truck.
- Repairs Where You Are: Your driveway, your workplace lot, the side of the road. If it can be done there, we do it there.
- No Upselling: We are not going to talk you into a battery you do not need. Our reputation in three towns is worth more than one extra sale.
Where and When We Work
We cover Somerville, Cambridge, Medford, and the surrounding areas, seven in the morning until eleven at night, Monday through Saturday. We are closed on Sundays. If you reach us near the end of the day, we will be honest about whether we can get to you before we close rather than leave you waiting on a truck that is not coming.
